#Veeam backup logs full#
It does not describe the full usage of the backup software. This application note describes the connection between Veeam BR and a QNAP NAS.This application note has been written and tested using Veeam BR 9.5 with Windows Server 2012R2 (A virtual machine on VMware ESXi 6.5), in an Active Directory environment for accessing the shared folders & iSCSI LUN.Veeam BR stands for Veeam Backup & Replication. This document is a step-by step guide for using Veeam Backup & Replication deployment on a QNAP ES NAS storage system. The product is licensed by the number of CPU sockets purchased. It is available in three editions based on the level of provided functionality. Veeam Backup & Replication is positioned as a part of the Veeam Availability Suite bundle (which includes Veeam ONE for monitoring, reporting and capacity planning), but can also be installed as a standalone product. Veeam Backup & Replication provides backup, restore and replication functionality for virtual machines that use VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V hypervisors. Third-party backup solutions are also available for QNAP ES NAS (including Symantec BE, Veeam, and NAKIVO). Remote replicate iSCSI LUN and Shared Folder using SnapSync on QNAP Enterprise Storage For the instructions, see this application note: Our QNAP ES NAS has a backup mechanism called “SnapSync”. To provide uninterrupted service for information system, companies should build backup mechanisms for their IT environment. Guideline for Choosing and Upgrading NASįor enterprise users, storage always plays an important role.Video Surveillance Device Management System.Configure network settings (QNE Network).Configure network settings (QTS & QuTS hero). With Linux and ZFS, QuTS hero supports advanced data reduction technologies for further driving down costs and increasing reliablility of SSD (all-flash) storage. QuTS hero is the operating system for high-end and enterprise QNAP NAS models. WIth Linux and ext4, QTS enables reliable storage for everyone with versatile value-added features and apps, such as snapshots, Plex media servers, and easy access of your personal cloud. I’ve also had the machine rebooted, but not sure if it was required.QTS is the operating system for entry- and mid-level QNAP NAS. So in order to get that going create the registry key (DWORD) with a value of 1 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication\UseSqlNativeClientProvider This needs to be done on every machine running MS SQL that Veeam backups using the application aware processing. While I can’t find the exact url to the post on MSDN that brought me to resolution, the said post suggested that that enabling SQL Native Client Provider should do the trick. Just to be sure, I’ve enabled tls1 on one of the affected machines, and the warning went away on the next scheduled backup. Once I saw that SSL Security error, it was obvious to me that this was related to recent tls1 disablement. 3:23:22 AM 4328 WARN Description = SSL Security error. 3:23:22 AM 4328 WARN Source = Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server

Failed to truncate SQL server transaction logs for instances: MYINSTANCE. Details: Failed to process 'TruncateSQLLog' command. Unable to truncate Microsoft SQL Server transaction logs. What is worth discussing however is that, once this has been rectified and tls1 was disabled then Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 could no longer do the application aware processing on MS SQL instances running on these machines. The reasons why it wasn’t are out of scope of this blog post. A recent vulnerability scan had flagged that the GPO to disable tls1 (think PCIDSS) wasn’t picked up by all systems that it should.
